Faster than a beating heart

  Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

One of a handful on the West Coast and the first in the San Joaquin Valley, the Siemens 128 Slice Definition is now at Kern Radiology. Incorporating two x-ray sources and two detectors, it offers twice the speed and resolution of the most advanced single source CT systems yet subjecting the patient to as much as 50% less radiation.  The high speed scanning allows capturing detailed images of the heart without the use of beta-blockers in most patients.  The dual-source capabilities enable physicians to further characterize and distinguish plaque, an early indicator of heart disease.  These same dual-source capabilities allow the radiologist to “subtract” bone tissue in neurological studies for clearer views of soft tissue and vasculature system.

Children also benefit from the CT with special low-dose radiation exposure protocols just for kids.  Thereby providing necessary diagnostic information while reducing anxiety regarding children’s radiation exposure
